Communion

Communion

Becoming a communicant member of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland is open to all who have been baptised, made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, and whose character is consistent with such a profession. We are thrilled to hear from anyone who wants to discuss this further.

Communicant members are those who are “full” members of the church.

Each year, usually in the autumn, there is an opportunity for people of all ages to be part of a Communicants’ Group. This meets over several weeks to consider the implications of taking such a step. However, do not hesitate to speak with the Rev. McClure at any time if you would be interested in finding out more.

Baptism and Communion are the two sacraments we observe. In infant baptism the commitments are made by the parents, family and congregation on behalf of the child. However, at Communion the commitment is made by the person themselves.

We celebrate communion throughout the year — usually on the second Sunday in January, Good Friday, the second Sunday in June and the third Sunday in September. See the Calendar of Events.
